The Lift Truck Operator will support the crews by utilizing the MBI scissor lift to assist in establishing safe work environments while constructing quality buildings. The operator will follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures and ensure the ‘Construction Procedure Manual’, ‘Best Building Practices’ and the Building Construction Plans are the quality standards for construction.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active CDL license
  • Keep DOT logs up to date at all times and turned in weekly.
  • Support and follow all Morton Buildings’ procedures and processes.
  • Complete and turn in appropriate paperwork at all times
    • Time cards on a daily basis
    • Form 61 from each job with correct information
    • Company credit card receipts submitted in a timely manner
    • Vehicle reports turned in monthly, with all receipts.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures
    • Overhead power line restrictions
    • Fall protection procedures
  • Treat all Morton Buildings employees in a professional manner.
  • Based on crew needs, schedule truck for designated projects, primarily roofs and ceilings.
  • Work with other crew personnel in a safe, organized, productive and enjoyable work environment treating everyone with dignity and respect
  • Schedule truck for designated projects, some travel required.
  • When work load is light, call around and make arrangements for future jobs
  • Potential for additional training and certifications on additional equipment
  • Report in writing all safety violations to the ACS, RM and Safety personnel.
  • Ensure quality work per the Construction Procedure Manual
    • Report all CPM violations to the ACS and RM
  • Maintain appropriate maintenance schedule on vehicle at all times per GE guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Maintain an active Class B CDL license with airbrake endorsements and appropriate licensing to operate standard/manual transmissions
  • Individual must be able to pass D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screening
  • Must be able to comply with our safety equipment’s 300 lb. weight limit
  • Standard weight lifting requirements - 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Carpentry experience desired
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge and skills needed to operate heavy equipment
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Knowledgeable in the construction industry
  • Established organizational and planning skills

Salary is $18.50 to $21.50 per hour based on experience plus bonus potential.

 

JOB LOCATION:  This position will be based out of our Fairfield, IA Construction Center
